Who operates Fumigastos
Fumigastos (fumigastos.com) is operated by Tristán Palacios, based in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. You can reach us at privacidad@fumigastos.com with any question about this policy or how your information is handled.
Privacy Policy
What we collect
Using Fumigastos doesn't require an account, a name, or an email address. The only personal information involved is contained in the document you choose to upload:
- Financial data: the information visible in the bank or credit card statement you upload (transactions, amounts, merchant names, dates).
- General usage data: non-identifying, aggregate information about how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location by country/city), collected through Google Analytics.
How your document is processed (and why we don't store it)
Fumigastos is built so that your document is never saved anywhere. Here's the flow:
- Your browser sends the document, over an encrypted connection, to our cloud function (Firebase Cloud Functions, by Google).
- That function forwards the document to Claude's API (by Anthropic) solely for analysis.
- No Fumigastos-owned system stores a copy of your document — there is no database where it's kept.
- The analysis result is sent back to your browser and shown on screen; closing or reloading the page clears it.
Third parties involved in processing
To analyze your document, Fumigastos sends it to the following third parties, who process it on our behalf and under our instructions, not for their own purposes:
- Anthropic, PBC — processes the document through its API to generate the analysis. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content submitted this way is not used to train their AI models.
- Google LLC (Firebase) — hosts the site and runs the function that connects to Anthropic.
- Google Analytics — collects general, aggregate site-usage statistics. It never has access to the content of the documents you upload.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics, which relies on cookies to understand overall site usage. These cookies do not track the content of any document you upload — only your navigation of the site itself.
Your rights
Because Fumigastos does not retain your information after generating your summary, there is in practice no stored record to access, correct, or delete once you close the page. If you have any question or request about how your information is handled, email privacidad@fumigastos.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page, with the "last updated" date shown above.
Terms of Service
The service
Fumigastos is a free tool that analyzes a bank or credit card statement you upload and shows you a summary of detected subscriptions and spending categories. It is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
Not financial advice
Fumigastos is not a financial advisor, accountant, or credit counselor, and nothing on this site constitutes financial, legal, or tax advice. The analysis is generated automatically and may contain errors or omissions — always verify the results against your original statement before making any financial decision.
No affiliation with third-party services
Fumigastos provides links to the official cancellation pages of services such as Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Max, Apple Music, YouTube Premium, and ChatGPT Plus, purely for your convenience. Fumigastos is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of these companies. All trademarks mentioned belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the relevant service and help you find its cancellation page.
What we don't do
Fumigastos never cancels a subscription on your behalf and never accesses your bank account directly — it only analyzes the document you choose to upload, and takes you to each service's own cancellation page for you to complete yourself.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fumigastos and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to inaccurate analysis results, decisions made based on the summary shown, or issues with third-party services linked from the site.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Fumigastos to upload documents that are not your own without authorization, or to attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, given that the service is operated from Mexico.
